myChatDroid for Facebook is a very simple application which connects your Android to Facebook chat.
It's not meant to be perfect... it's just a very simple chat app which doesn't waste your memory and battery.
Supports emoticons and links in chat messages and plays notifications (statusbar/sound/vibration/LED) on new messages.

You can log in with Facebook Connect (using Facebook website) or entering your username and password (visit the page
http://www.facebook.com/usernameif you don't have a custom username yet).
myChatDroid requires these permissions to run:
- android.permission.INTERNET: to connect to chat server;
- android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: to check if data connection is available;
- android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: to cache avatars to SD card, for a smoother experience and memory saving;
- android.permission.VIBRATE: to notify incoming messages when the screen is off.
Please note that Facebook runs a very limited implementation of the chat protocol (XMPP), so there are a few things that won't work in any chat program:
- offline messages are not supported;
- even if you set the away status, your friends will see you as available (but you can set an automatic message from myChatDroid);
- no way to block/unblock friends or groups (you can do it from the website);
- you will only see friends that are shown in Facebook website's chat.

PRIVACY POLICY AND TERMS OF SERVICE
myChatDroid connects to your Facebook account using official Facebook API or XMPP authentication, with the unique purpose to connect to the chat server "
chat.facebook.com".
In the first case (Facebook API authentication) authentication details are NEVER saved by myChatDroid, because the chat session is bound to the Facebook app session.
In the second case (username and password authentication) the user can save username and password for later use.
No data is saved without the user permission or shared with third party other than Facebook.
The app requires the following Facebook permissions:
- xmpp_login : used to log in to chat server
- offline_access: used to create a long-term session for future log ins, so the user will not be asked for username and password at every login.
All saved data can be deleted with the appropriate button "Clear saved data", which will also delete the user session.
The user who installs this app takes charge of whatever may come from its use, relieving the developer from any responsibility.
